Hello there! My name is Bonnie Nisbet. I am a thirty- five year old married mother of two and discovered that I am gluten intolerant several years ago. Despite the excitement of my health finally on the mends I felt very frustrated and confused on what to eat, how to shop, and how to cook. As a busy mother of two I was overwhelmed to say the least. With recent experience at a top catering company one of my passions has always been cooking. I refuse to settle for less flavor, selection, quality or texture when it comes to cooking and eating.
After reading, researching, experimenting and dedicating much of my time to getting healthy and living gluten free; I have acquired many tips, techniques, recipes and time savers that I am excited to share with you. I look back on recipe experimenting, health lessons (cross contamination), shopping, time and research I have put into the past several years and want to help others save time, money and impaired health.
Six months ago I discovered that my six year old son is also gluten intolerant. This was not a shock but left a new challenge. How do you keep a child happy and gluten free without him/her feeling isolated?! I now know that with planning, patience and the right resources it is easy and the payoff if his quality of life. Everywhere I turn I meet people wanting to go gluten free or having to. Many of them are children with busy moms and the challenge for them is of course time! I found myself so busy sharing information, supporting and guiding others that I realized I should be doing this professionally and reaching out all over the community. I love working with people and believe that all of life’s challenges can be embraced with a positive attitude. There is also usually a laugh or two to be had.
My goal is to guide and support people who have been diagnosed or have decided on their own to live gluten free. Although I am not a registered dietician nor a nutritionist, I am offering to share from my own experience as a gluten free mom, cook, researcher, and friend.
